Facial recognition has infiltrated all aspects of our daily lives, from smartphones to urban cameras. The Mask ID project is a research endeavor focused on this technology, aiming to create masks that exist at the intersection of fashion and science. It encourages us to rethink our relationship with digital technologies and highlights privacy issues.

By deliberately disrupting key facial points such as the lines of the nose, mouth, and eyes (crucial markers for facial recognition algorithms), these masks attempt to offer solutions. Facial recognition becomes less reliable, allowing for anonymity while maintaining social recognition. Positioned at the crossroads of aesthetics and research, Mask ID is both a fashion accessory and an act of digital resistance. It questions our relationship with technology, prompting us to reflect on how we can preserve our individuality in a society where facial recognition is ubiquitous.
